Label Flex continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation very closely with the well-being of our employees, their families, our customers and other stakeholders in mind.  In these challenging times our priority is to protect our staff, our business contacts and the wider community.

In accordance with Section 4 (1) (c) of Statutory Instrument 83 of 2020 and the Ministry of Industry & Commerce Guidelines published on 28 and 29 March 2020 respectively, Label Flex is authorized to remain operational during the national lockdown period running from Monday 30 March to Sunday 19 April 2020 and we have received confirmation and authority of the same from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

 

We are the major supplier of labels to companies in the food, beverages, edible oils, pharmaceutical and detergent sectors, which have been deemed essential for the population during this pandemic. We remain open for business during the national lockdown period and are here to serve the interests of our key customers and nation.

 

We are fully aware that our ability to supply is critical for businesses and for the country, but the safety of our employees is paramount, and we have taken the following measures to protect them:

 

• We have staggered staffing schedules to ensure continuity of production of labels, with one team operating on the ground and the other supporting them from home.
• The team on the ground is transported to and from our factory in a marked company vehicle, shielding them from exposure to the general public.
• All staff were issued with personal supplies of anti-bacterial hand soap and hand sanitizers for use at home with their families.
• We have installed alcohol-based hand sanitizers at all entrance and exit points, and all staff are instructed to sanitize hands and to wash their hands frequently with soap and running water to minimize transfer.
• All staff will wear face masks at all times during the production process, and gloves are available for appropriate use.
• Upon arrival at work, all staff have temperature tests using the appropriate equipment to quickly identify if a member of staff should be removed from the facility.
• All surfaces and door handles are continuously sterilized.
• Awareness training for all members of staff began at the beginning of February, and up until Friday 27 March updates were being conducted weekly.
• These measures are continuously monitored and updated based on the recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and local authorities.

 

Our Crisis Management Team, which meets on a daily basis, has developed a Pandemic Plan and Checklist to ensure business continuity during this lockdown period. The Team’s mandate covers the following key areas:

 

• Ensuring that our pipeline of raw materials remains solid and long in order to guarantee supply of labels for at least the next four (4) months.
• Activation and allocation of roles and responsibilities during the pandemic.

 

Formulating and implementing strategies related to:

• Customer service delivery.
• Activation of additional infection control measures.
• Establishing direct lines of communication with local public health agencies and/or departments and industry associations.
• Effective management of communications with all key stakeholders i.e. customers, employees, public sector agencies, departments and ministries, and affiliate industrial bodies.

 

The Label Flex Team is doing everything we can to maintain our standard service levels. In order to keep the required social distancing, communications will be handled via telephone, email, WhatsApp or SMS rather than in person.
